I bet almost all of us could find a way to cut $100 out of our monthly budget.
Sure, we could make excuses and say we’re saving everything we can. But I bet there is a way.
Is it possible to cut an extra $100 per month out of your monthly spending?
The best way to answer this question is: if the government all of the sudden raised taxes by $100 per month and your employer started to withhold another $100, what would happen to you?
Would you go on welfare?
Would you declare bankruptcy?
Would you curl up and give up?
I doubt it. I bet you’d make the necessary adjustments.
So, why not force yourself to make those adjustments today?
I guess before you even try and cut $100 from your monthly spending, you need to ask a few questions:
- Do you know where you’re currently spending your money?
- Have you researched any cheaper alternatives for your current expenses?
- Have you even tried living without the item you think you can’t live without?
What difference can $100 per month make?
On the surface, it would seem like if you cut $100 per month out of your spending you’d end up with $1,200.
Not true.
Let’s say you’re paying 12% interest on a credit card.
That $100 you cut from your spending is like saving $112. It’s like saving $1,344 a year by cutting $100 per month out of your spending.
A big mistake that many people make is that they want to focus only on the big differences and forget how much cumulative change it would make saving about $3 per day.
Big wins happen when you consistently do small things right.
So, are you ready?
Ready to take action. Ready to make a small step. Ready to make progress in the right direction.
Are you willing to commit to cutting $100 out of your budget? If so, what do you think you can cut?

Well, I got laid off about 2 months ago and had to cut back on quite a few expenses. My family is good for a few years, since I received a nice severance package and we can make it stretch for quite some time.
I look at it as my newly found emergency fund, as I have been building it for quite some time, but now I am very close to it.
I was able to cut back on the “wants” and got way more than $100 a month of cutting back.
Richard,
You’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty! Sorry to hear about the lay off, but it seems like you’ve got a solid game plan and a healthy approach to everything.
